When you or someone you love needs help, it’s often hard to know what to do or where to turn. At Great Lakes Recovery Centers, we have diversified our services to offer additional non-clinical care.
GLRC coordinates several Communities that Care (CTC) coalitions across the Upper Peninsula. The evidence-based prevention model addresses risk factors for youth problem behavior and creates opportunities for youth to engage in the community. The mission is to unite community members to create a healthier, safer community for our youth.
Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) contracts with GLRC to provide foster care recruitment, training and retention services across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Regional Resource Team (RRT) members are located throughout the region to ensure that the entire Upper Peninsula has local resources available.
Everyone deserves the opportunity at a second chance, and the Offender Success program is all about second chances. We cover all 15 counties of the Upper Peninsula, also known as Region 1. Services are only available to Returning Citizens under State of Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) supervision. We provide case management services to help meet Returning Citizens’ basic needs and to assist with community reentry.

GLRC facilitates substance abuse and suicide prevention programming throughout the Upper Peninsula. Through this work, GLRC strives to reduce the stigma around mental health and substance abuse.
Peer Recovery focuses on providing an environment where people from the community, who are living in recovery, work with people who are currently receiving treatment for a substance use disorder. These Community-based Peer Recovery Specialists serve as a resource and support system for others who are currently in treatment and who are living in recovery. They also provide support and assistance to people affected by others addiction/substance use disorders.
GLRC offers both men’s and women’s recovery housing in several Upper Peninsula communities. Recovery housing provides a safe and supportive, recovery-oriented environment where individuals can begin their life of sobriety. GLRC recovery houses are MARR (Michigan Association of Recovery Residences, Inc.) and NARR (National Alliance for Recovery Residences) certified.
