Child & Adolescent Services
Adolescent Outpatient Services provide specialized outpatient services to children and adolescents for the treatment of mental health, Substance Use Disorder, and co-occurring disorders. Clinicians are specialized in the treatment of childhood trauma and hold specialty training and certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Intergenerational Trauma and Neuro-Developmental Trauma, as well as possessing Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor designation.
The outpatient approach on recovery is less intensive than residential services, but offers a more flexible approach for those who need freedom to attend school. Clients meet for individual and/or group sessions that focus on living life in recovery. For those leaving residential treatment, outpatient services can provide a smooth transition from treatment to home life.
Adolescent Outpatient Services are offered at a number of Outpatient Offices across the Upper Peninsula. The availability of clinicians and services are different at each location, please call (906) 228-9696 for services that work for you.
Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Specialty Clinic
Great Lakes Recovery Centers (GLRC) established the Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Specialty Clinic to help address the unmet need for psychiatric and specialty mental health services for children and families. GLRC believes that effectively addressing adverse childhood experiences and mental health issues requires access to a full spectrum of services including psychiatric care, specialty assessment and treatment services, and clinicians specially trained in trauma, childhood development, and family systems.
GLRC’s philosophy for treating behavioral health needs is to assist individuals and families in finding their unique pathway to healing and understanding that no two individuals are the same. GLRC will help individuals utilize many different pathways to find their own personal path to healing.
The target population for services includes children and adolescents dealing with mild to moderate mental health issues that require the care of a licensed psychiatrist that cannot access these services through another system of care. Under the direction of a licensed psychiatrist, the specialty clinic will host a full spectrum of services designed for the treatment of youth between the ages of 5 and 17 including:
