Recovery Housing

GLRC offers both men’s and women’s recovery housing in several Upper Peninsula communities. Recovery housing provides a safe and supportive, recovery-oriented environment where individuals can begin their life of sobriety.

After completing residential treatment for substance use disorders, clients often return to the same living situation that previously supported their addiction, and are faced with the same challenges and temptations they had before. Recovery housing can offer a extended support from like-minded individuals.

While living in Recovery Housing, clients are integrated in a community where they can practice and enhance their recovery skills. To do so, residents will participate in house activities, maintain and clean the home and learn to work together in their community. Each individual will learn how to incorporate new recovery activities into their daily lives.

• 18 years of age or older
• Ability to live in a shared living environment
• Attend self-help meetings weekly (NA, AA, SMART Recovery, etc.)
• Obtain full-time (32+hr/week) employment within 60 days
• Attend weekly house meetings
• A minimum of 30 days in recovery prior to applying to Recovery Housing
• Monthly service fees will be 30% of gross income; alternative payment arrangements may be discussed.

Clients are offered a safe and supportive living environment. Individualized case management is tailored to fit their needs. Staff will also help each resident to find a schedule that supports their recovery pathway.

While in Recovery Housing, GLRC’s goal is to help clients determine the next steps in their individual housing solutions. Options are available for transitioning to more independent living in recovery apartments or obtaining long-term housing.

To apply for GLRC Recovery Housing, please complete the application and Relapse Prevention Plan and submit to inquiry@greatlakesrecovery.org or send directly to the recovery house of your choice.

Living at the Ripple House has helped me tremendously at making this attempt at recovery so much more successful than my prior attempts. The ladies are so encouraging and supportive of each other on a regular basis. Of course, we all have our trials and tribulations. Life is life, and life in recovery is very hard, as it is the opposite of how we lived and what we knew before. Life is much better for me here than how I was living previously. The Community and Employers have been very supportive and open to welcoming us. I am even learning to laugh again….”
